The Gift You Can't Afford to Miss

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: Indeed the first deed by which a servant will be called to account on the Day of Resurrection is his Salat. If it is complete, he is successful and saved, but if it is defective, he has failed and lost." Sahih (Darussalam) - Tirmidhi, 413

Imagine someone who claims to love you deeply, but never speaks to you. They don’t call, they don’t visit, and they don’t share their life with you. Could you truly say that this person’s love is sincere? In the same way, how can we say we love Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, and yet never speak to Him, never pray to Him. Imagine that you come on the Day of Judgment with all your good deeds yet none of it will help you, all because you never prayed. What will you say when asked why you never prayed, especially when he made it so easy for you? You might say "Ya Allah, I was busy." But busy with what? Busy with the world? The world that distracted you but could not save you. You might say "I was tired." But what will you say to the angels who never sleep, who record every second of your life? You might say "I didn't know how." But didn’t Allah send down a complete guidance? Did the Prophet ﷺ not show you the perfect way to pray?

When we let go of prayer, we let go of our identity, our purpose, our protection. How many of us feel lost? How many of us feel like we are drowning in stress, anxiety, and hopelessness My brothers and sisters, Salah is your anchor. Salah is your refuge. When the Prophet ﷺ faced difficulty, he would say, "Get up, Bilal, and give us comfort by the prayer” Sahih, Al Albani, Sunan Abi Dawud 4986. Do we not also need this comfort? Are we not drowning in stress, anxiety and the pressures of this world? Look at the mercy of Allah, he has given us a way to escape from the chaos of this world, a few moments to stand in His presence, to lay down our burdens, to humble ourselves and ask for His help. How many of us are running away from this gift?

Salah is your shield, without it, your soul becomes exposed to the whispers of Shaytan and to the temptations of this dunya. You need your Salah as much as you need the air you breathe. We think we can find peace in our careers, our friends or our hobbies. But the truth is, nothing in this dunya will fill the emptiness in our hearts. Don’t let the dunya fool you into thinking your work, your sleep or your distractions are more important than your conversation with Allah. Every moment you delay, you are delaying peace, mercy, blessings, and even Jannah from the One who loves you more than anyone else.

If you are struggling to pray, I understand, we all struggle. But don’t let Shaytan convince you that it’s too late for you. It’s never too late to turn back to Allah. If you have missed prayers, make sincere repentance and commit to starting fresh. Remember Allah is the Most Forgiving and the Most Merciful. Make the intention and act upon it today, don’t wait for tomorrow because tomorrow is not promised. Stand up and take that first step back to Allah, and you will find that He was always waiting for you.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah says: 'I am just as My slave thinks I am; if he comes one span nearer to Me, I go one cubit nearer to him; and if he comes one cubit nearer to Me, I go a distance of two outstretched arms nearer to him; and if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running.' " Sahih Al Bukhari 7405

May Allah make us among those who establish their prayers with sincerity, and may He make Salah a source of peace, comfort and strength in our lives.
